Endless by Kristin Vestgard
Oil on Canvas
I was first introduced to Kristin Vestgard‘s work by The Jealous Curator.
The paintings captured my attention and have haunted my imagination ever since.
The paintings are whimsical, eerie, haunting, ethereal, captivating, quiet, and stunning.
In short, I absolutely love the paintings. I think Kristin Vestgard’s works are pictorial versions of dreams, where fantasy, longing, reality, nightmares, and dreams collide.
The paintings remind me of this quote by Shakespeare, from The Tempest:
Our revels now are ended. These our actors,
As I foretold you, were all spirits, and
Are melted into air, into thin air:
And like the baseless fabric of this vision,
The cloud-capp’d tow’rs, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve,
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff
As dreams are made on; and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep.
